My Breasts, My Face, My Body
October 22nd, 2007
I’ve never been one to think I would ever want or need cosmetic surgery. In fact I’ve often viewed it as something like the surreal experience depicted in the movie Brazil where a “surgeon” took a roll of plastic wrap and stretched it around and around an elderly woman’s face and head until it was perfectly molded to his liking. This of course, has nothing to do with cosmetic surgery today, or ever in the history of mankind. Yet I am sure that I am not alone in my ignorance when it comes to the subject of breast implants, liposuction, face lifts and non-surgical treatments that many men and women comfortably receive all over the world.

Gail Blanke & Living the Life You Want
October 5th, 2007
It’s one thing to be noted as a celebrity, but it’s something entirely different if you hold the key to empower men and women to live the lives they want. And that’s what this best-selling author, renowned personal and executive life coach and motivational speaker has. I read her book, Between Trapezes: Flying Into a New Life with the Greatest of Ease (Rodale), in one night almost a year ago and haven’t forgotten many of the valuable messages she effortlessly passes along. Sitting across from the founder, president and chief executive of Lifedesigns, Gail Blanke, I feel a nervous kind of excitement. After all, she has advised everyone from CEOs and presidential candidates to working mothers, career changers, empty nesters, job seekers and people who are just plain stuck and want to reinvent their lives. She’s the author of two other books: In my Wildest Dreams: Living the Life You Long For (Simon & Schuster) and Taking Control of Your Life: The Secrets of Successful Enterprising Women (Mastermedia). Gail has a most amazing presence, a petite figure and charm which makes you think of Audrey Hepburn.
Kelly Brady and Mind Over Matter
October 3rd, 2007
It didn’t surprise me at all that Kelly Brady, Fitness Director of Island Health & Fitness would be so healthy looking and in such great shape. With her broad shoulders and lean figure, she looks like she could be a professional basketball player even though she only dribbled the ball through college. With an M.S. in Exercise Science and Exercise Physiology, her concentration remains on the science of the body and physiology of the muscles. Overall her outlook is based on studies and proven statistics, but she agrees that there are exceptions which would explain the millions of theories out there about health, diet, aging and exercise. After meeting with Kelly, I think her outlook is more mind over matter than she realizes, which in today’s climate can be very grounding.
