Rachel Hogancamp (she/her) is the co-founder of Rasa Spa, in partnership with Cayuga Medical Center and Island Health & Fitness. Rachel’s career in wellness began in 1994 when she attended the Finger Lakes School of Massage. She went on to be an instructor until 2012.
Rachel’s interest in serving her community through volunteer service began as a student on the Ithaca College campus in the late 80’s. Over the years, she has put much of her energy toward serving the needs of those with particular health challenges as a long-time supporter of the STAP AIDS Ride, as well as the Cancer Resource Center of the Finger Lakes. In recent years she has served as a committee member of the Community Foundation’s Women’s Fund, and continues to serve as a board member of Family & Children’s Service and the Tompkins Chamber and Convention & Visitors Bureau, as well as the New York State Spa Association. An avid and accomplished photographer and supporter of the visual arts, everywhere you look at Rasa, you will see the work of local artists. When the opportunity came to open Rasa at the Cayuga Wellness Center in 2006, Rachel was eager to create a full-service spa dedicated to serving the whole person and for the spa to be not simply be a place of luxury but a fully-integrated part of the healthcare offered at the Center. It is her singular vision to communicate her passion for achieving whole-body health to the greater Ithaca, regional, and nationwide spa communities. Rachel’s overarching hope is that Rasa Spa will be able to serve the needs of the broadest possible array of people who are on the path to achieving their best health.

Brian Alexander (Licensed Massage Therapist) is a 2018 graduate of the Finger Lakes School of Massage. He enjoys using his knowledge of kinesiology and an array of massage modalities to create a deeply therapeutic session that addresses his clients’ needs. As an active person, Brian is passionate about learning how the body moves and functions. He believes good communication is foundational to everything we do, and welcomes feedback from his clients.

Katie Barnes
Lead Massage Therapist
Katie Barnes (Licensed Massage Therapist) moved to Ithaca in September 2010 to start massage school at FLSM. On the first day, she knew she had found her new love. She was in awe of the art of massage and fell in love with FLSM and the Ithaca area. Her interest in massage stems from two different people in her life: The first, her grandmother. Her feet were always cold and achy. She didn’t like for anyone to look at her feet, but would let Katie soak and massage them. The simple soak and rub drastically improved her circulation and they felt warm again. The second is her father, a Navy SEAL who lost his left leg in the Vietnam War. Katie watched him struggle with pain her entire life until her family figured out that an hour of massage leaves him pain-free for almost a week. Katie believes in a wide variety of modalities in her practice. One of her favorite services to do is massage with cupping. Her main focus is to center her sessions around each client’s needs.

Corirose Benitez Anjali

Corirose Benitez Anjali (Licensed Massage Therapist) has been a healing practitioner for over three decades. She enjoys supporting people to experience the renewal of deep relaxation and self-connection through massage and bodywork. She likes to integrate relaxing deep tissue massage, myofascial release, and craniosacral therapy, individualizing her therapeutic touch for each client’s needs. Corirose moved to Ithaca in 2019 from St Louis, MO, where she was an instructor at Elements of Wellness School of Massage, teaching Foundations of Bodywork, Ethics, Communication, and Craniosacral Therapy. Sonia Brixey-Fernandez

Sonia Brixey-Fernandez (Licensed Massage Therapist) was born and raised in Venezuela. Prior to moving to Ithaca, NY she practiced traditional Chinese massage for 3 years. Continuing her education in Ithaca, Sonia graduated from the Finger Lakes School of Massage in 2013. Since graduating, Sonia has worked in area spas and private practices. Her goal is to help clients relieve chronic pain and stress while exhibiting how massage benefits a healthy body and mind. Methods used are trigger point therapy, Swedish and Meridian work. Her sessions are tailored to each client’s needs. She loves learning about the human body and how to provide treatment through massage.

Julianne Brower

Julianne Brower (Licensed Massage Therapist), lovingly referred to as Jules, has been practicing as a Licensed Massage Therapist since graduating from the Finger Lakes School of Massage in 2013. She has experience working in many different settings, including spas, hospitals, chiropractic offices, and wellness collectives. Her varied experience has allowed her to work with many different clients and pathologies, furthering her knowledge of the human body and the health benefits of Massage Therapy. Julianne’s style of bodywork is an integrative approach, using a combination of modalities and techniques to effectively meet the needs of each individual she works with. She has continuing education training in Myofascial Release Therapy, Oncology Massage, Reiki, Cupping, Mayan Abdominal Massage, and Integrative Energy Healing. Jules specializes in deep tissue facial massage for TMJD, as well as abdominal massage – especially specific to endometriosis and reproductive health. Carol Clune (Licensed Massage) (she/her) has been practicing massage since 2007, when she received her Associates in Massage Therapy from the Swedish Institute College of Health Sciences in New York City. She knew for many years prior to attending massage school that it would the right career path. Before enrolling, she practiced on friends and family at any get-together, and clearly had a gift. Carol relishes piecing together the puzzle of bodywork needs for each and every client she works with, and she is great at connecting with her clients to identify those needs. Carol has a range of modalities and specialties to offer, including medical massage for a specific problem area that can be delved into, to reflexology where she can assist in relaxing body parts that aren’t even being touched, to a full body relaxation session that is flowing and seamless. Sarah Costonis

Sarah Costonis (Licensed Massage Therapist and Licensed Acupuncturist) has 25 years of experience as a full time licensed bodyworker, and weaves a deeply nurturing space for her clients. Sarah loves to unpack layer after layer of tension from the superficial fascia and lymph passageways down to the deep muscles, nerves, and brain, leaving you floating out of the room. With Lymphatic Drainage, Aquatic Cranio-Sacral Therapy, and Manual Meridian Therapy, Sarah can treat a range of physical and emotional disorders. Anna DiPilla (Licensed Massage Therapist) (she/her) brings over twenty years of experience in body-based and spirit-led healing to her work at Rasa Spa. She holds a Holistic Massage Therapy Certificate from Health Choices Holistic Institute in New Jersey and has extensive training in trauma-informed yoga, somatic practices, and integrative healing modalities. Her studies include trauma-conscious yoga with Dr. Nathalie Edmond and the Trauma-Conscious Yoga Institute, psoas work with Liz Koch, aromatherapy, infant massage, and hospice and medically frail massage.
In addition to her massage and yoga foundations, Anna has completed year-long shamanic studies through the Church of Earth Healing, Unergi BodyPsychotherapy, and training in Shamballa Multi-Dimensional Healing and Visioning B.E.A.R. Circle practices. She has taught massage and Reiki, and her work as an embodiment coach informs her attuned, holistic approach.
Her sessions weave therapeutic touch, nervous system awareness, and intuitive presence to support deep release, embodied self-trust, and holistic restoration. Anna also offers private and couples yoga classes in Rasa’s Community Space.

Drawing on decades of study in Healing Touch, Reiki, Qigong, and sound healing, Shura works in deep dialogue with clients and their energies to help restore balance and vitality as they navigate their life paths. Teresa Grady

Teresa Grady (Licensed Massage Therapist)studied at the Swedish Institute of Massage Therapy, and became a New York Sate licensed massage therapist in 1993. The last 31 years of experience has provided her with a strong appreciation for the healing power of touch. Teresa sees massage as an important supplement to health insurance; as it maintains overall health and a strong immune system. Over the years she has become convinced that connective tissue health and positioning directly impact body pain and comfort levels. For this reason, her use of cups during massage is common. Overall , Teresa addresses massage sessions integrating modalities learned in school and from various continuing education courses over the years. Michelle Grose (Licensed Massage Therapist) (she/her) graduated from the Northern Virginia School of Therapeutic Massage in 2017 and the New York Institute of Massage in 2023. Prior to massage therapy, Michelle graduated with her masters degree in the mental health field. Ever since her studies in mental health, she has wanted to find another way to help people with their stress and anxiety, which led her to massage therapy. She is an LGBTQ+ friendly massage therapist and open to all walks of life. Anke Hoffstaetter (Licensed Massage Therapist) describes doing body work as feeling like flying in a time capsule. If you’ve heard of “flow state,” you know what she’s talking about. Anke originally wanted to become a talk therapist and studied psychology at Cornell, and while she still loves to lend a listening ear, her true passion is to treasure the wisdom of the body.
Anke graduated from the Finger Lakes School of Massage in 2019. Some of her favorite areas to focus on are helping people with upper and lower back pain, loosening fascial adhesions through deep tissue massage, and the gentle movements of KAM. And she feels you can’t beat a great foot massage! Another aspect she deeply treasures is to help clients find respite from daily stress and anxiety.
Over the years, Anke has learned that therapy, whether for the body or the mind, is not an “either or” thing. Therefore, you can be assured she will be present with you, whether with your words or your meditative silence.

Inge Johnson (Licensed Massage Therapist) is a 2007 graduate of The Finger Lakes School of Massage. Alternative approaches to self-care have been an interest for her since she was a child. Finding that she had intuitive healing touch when she was 13 and starting her life study of herbs and yoga at seventeen. She grew up in Ithaca and has raised her two children here as well.
Cross cultural appreciation has been a theme throughout her life, seeking mutual understandings and experiences to enrich community and personal learning. Massage offers her an expansive field of study with modalities from every culture and the complexity of the body to explore. His inspiration is undoubtedly because of the outstanding bodywork he had received, and what it revealed for him about his own body. Outside of massage therapy, she is certified as a Pelvic Floor Yoga™ Instructor and has trained in Trauma-Sensitive Yoga. She originally graduated from The Lauterstein-Conway Massage School in Austin, TX and recently attended the Institute for Holistic Health in Poughkeepsie in order to transfer her license to New York from Texas. Dex White (Licensed Massage Therapist) graduated from the Finger Lakes School of Massage and has been working as a massage therapist since 2000. He was an instructor at FLSM for 15 years, teaching Swedish, movement-based work, energy work, deep tissue techniques, medical massage, and communication skills. His sessions usually draw from all of these approaches, based on his client’s preferences and his own deep listening to the body’s responses to the work. Dex truly enjoys following his intuition and responding to his client’s needs in the moment, and he places great importance on laughter and play.

Christine is a 2022 graduate of the Christine Valmy International School of Esthetics. Prior to esthetics school, she was a health and wellness educator at the secondary and college levels in upstate New York for over two decades. As an esthetician at Rasa Spa, Christine offers her clients a peaceful experience in relaxation and skincare rejuvenation through her sensorial and healing touch, caring heart, and knowledgeable skincare practices. When not at Rasa with her clients or learning about new skincare best practices, Christine also enjoys tennis, hiking, cooking, playing with her black lab, and spending precious time with her family. Sarah Fry (Licensed Esthetician) has a passion for skincare that came from her own extensive journey to restore her sensitized skin. Even before attending an esthetics program at the Aesthetic Science Institute she dedicated her time to understanding skin health and home care regimens. After finishing school she knew she wanted to create a space where her clients feel cared for and could work together on achieving their skin goals. She does just that with a blend of relaxing touch and effective, individualized treatments so each client leaves feeling confident and refreshed.

Madigan Holohan

Madigan Holohan (Licensed Esthetician) has been an esthetician and massage therapist for more than 20 years, and brings a wealth of knowledge and skill to the Rasa Spa skincare team. Her passion for skin and body care drives Madi to constantly educate herself – and her clients. Madi is also a Kundalini Yoga instructor, whole foods chef with her own food delivery service started during the pandemic, and homesteading goddess! She cares for her six chickens, two chihuahuas, two cats, and food and medicinal herb gardens on nine lovely acres she relocated to from New York City. She is thrilled to be a part of the Rasa family and excited to bring her skincare expertise to Rasa’s clientele.

Leana Love-Fabian (Licensed Esthetician) attended Continental school of Beauty in 2004 and has loved being an esthetician ever since. Her love of skincare started long before when she was a little girl with face masks, bubble bath and makeup. She promotes good skin care practices, not solely to benefit the look of your skin, but also for the fulfillment that caring for yourself brings. Leana brings her broad spectrum of knowledge and experience to each session and tailors the treatment towards the clients desires and needs. Sarah Scheiber (Licensed Esthetician, Waxing Specialist, and Reiki Master) joined the Rasa Spa team in 2010, and has been cultivating long-lasting client relationships ever since. She began her time at Rasa as a waxing specialist and Reiki Master, and while continuing to hone these specialties through dedicated practice and education opportunities around the country, she added her nails and esthetics licensures along the way. Sarah enjoys offering integrative facials that bring facial massage, quality and effective products, and energy into each session. She believes our faces hold our emotions and our history, and regular facials can release muscle tension patterns, fine lines and wrinkles, and brighten and enhance skin tone and texture. Sarah also has a passion for education—for herself, her clients, and the next generation of beauty enhancement students at the Elmira GST BOCES program. When Sarah isn’t at Rasa, she is busy spending time with her significant other raising her niece with homesteading values, putting her entrepreneurship passion to work, and volunteering at her local fire company.

Melissa Winslow (Licensed Esthetician) Melissa is licensed in both cosmetology and esthetics and blends scientific knowledge with a deep belief in the healing power of touch. Anna DiPilla
Certified Yoga Instructor
Anna DiPilla (Certified Yoga Instructor) was introduced to the ancient somatic practice of yoga while a student in massage school 20 years ago. She quickly realized that yoga helped soothe her anxiety and began a regular, consistent practice. In March of 2020, Anna graduated from Devalila Yoga’s 200 hour TraumaWise(R) yoga teacher training. This unique program was developed by Stephanie Pappas. Stephanie studied with Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, who is known for founding the Art of Living Foundation and whose teachings focused on breath-based meditation techniques and stress management. Stephanie then went on to study with Dr Peter Levine, becoming an Advanced Somatic Experiencing(TM) practitioner. She combined her yoga and Somatic Experiencing trainings into a yoga teacher training focusing on trauma and somatics. Prior to this training, Anna spent a year in apprenticeship with Ute Arnold, founder of Unergi, a somatic modality combining body, mind, emotions, art, and nature. Anna offers private and group trauma-informed yoga and somatic movement classes at Rasa.

Astrid Jirka
Certified Yoga Instructor
Astrid Jirka (Certified Yoga Instructor) is a certified advanced Hatha Yoga and Restorative Yoga teacher. She has been teaching since 2004 in many different venues, including wellness and fitness centers, yoga studios, and private settings. She teaches with a well-rounded focus on the physical, mental, and spiritual levels of the yoga practice in order to achieve positive health and well-being. The physical aspects include the goal of creating a balance between strength and flexibility an overall balanced and healthy lifestyle. Essential to this concept is deep awareness and control of the breath and the ability to look inward while remaining connected to the outside world. She is interested to assist people at any level who are looking to heal or enliven their bodies and lives through increased awareness and mobility.

Eleanor Liebson
Certified Yoga Instructor and Licensed Occupational Therapist
Eleanor Liebson (Certified Yoga Instructor and Licensed Occupational Therapist) is also a Certified Laughter Yoga Instructor. She brings 25 years of rehabilitative experience and ongoing continuing education to her yoga therapy practice. Eleanor has taught numerous specialty yoga classes for pregnancy, breast cancer survivors, Parkinsonism, arthritis, osteoporosis, senior chair yoga, special needs children’s yoga, and also provides one-on-one yoga therapy for persons with unique orthopedic and neurological conditions such as those with spinal issues, stroke, MS, CP, chronic pain, and emotional dysregulation. She incorporates stress management into her outpatient occupational therapy (OT) practice where she works for Cayuga Medical Center at the Brentwood PT clinic and has taught stress management workshops at TC3 and yoga in the Physical Therapy Department at Ithaca College.

Alyssa Bieling
Assistant Spa Director
Alyssa Bieling (she/her) Joining the Rasa Spa Guest Services team in 2021, Alyssa brings a unique blend of vision, creativity, and leadership to her role. With a background in sustainable agriculture and a deep appreciation for the beauty in everyday life, Alyssa’s path into the wellness community was accidental. However, her diverse experiences and extensive life background have made her a natural problem-solver, adaptable, and eager to take on new challenges.
A passionate advocate for wellbeing, Alyssa plays a vital role in the day-to-day operations of the spa. She takes pride in fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment where each team member feels valued, with the collective goal of enhancing every client’s experience.
In addition to her leadership at the spa, Alyssa collaboratively helped bring the Waterfront Café vision to life in December 2023. Located on the first floor of the Cayuga Wellness Center, much of her vision and attention to detail are reflected not only in the space’s warm, welcoming atmosphere but also in the thoughtfully curated menu.
Whether nurturing plants, caring for animals, or designing spaces for comfort and connection, Alyssa is deeply committed to the well-being of others. Her focus is always on creating environments where guests and team members feel cared for, supported, heard, and at ease.

Wendy Houseworth
Marketing Director
Wendy Houseworth (she/her) joined the Rasa Spa team in 2009 and brings a thoughtful blend of strategic vision and creative intuition to everything she touches. With both an analytical mind and a strong visual sensibility, she helps shape how Rasa looks, feels, and connects with the community.
As Rasa’s in-house photographer, graphic designer, and marketing lead, Wendy guides the spa’s brand direction, visual identity, and storytelling across print, digital, and in-spa experiences. From website design and e-commerce to social media, email campaigns, and seasonal promotions, she ensures every detail reflects Rasa’s values of warmth, inclusivity, and whole-person wellness.
She believes that wellness extends beyond treatments and that thoughtful communication, education, and accessibility help guests feel informed, supported, and empowered to prioritize their health. Her goal is to create spaces and stories that feel calm, welcoming, and informative, so every guest feels cared for long before and long after their appointment.

Sondra Hartmann
Education Coordinator
Sondra Hartmann is the Educational Coordinator for the Massage Therapists at Rasa. Licensed since 1991, Sondra has practiced massage and been on the faculty at the Finger Lakes School of Massage for over 25 years where she has taught many of the massage modalities, as well as offering Continuing Education classes. Her private practice focuses on Women’s Health. She is a Master Instructor of Reiki and Intergraded Energy Therapy which promotes wellness of Body, Mind and Spirit.
